What is your definition of living O.T.G. (off the grid)?:
How far would you live O.T.G.?:
How many already do?:
If you do live O.T.G., what do you use for lighting and heating your house?:
Do you use a generator to run appliances?:

What is your definition of living O.T.G. (off the grid)?...reverse technology.
How far would you live O.T.G.?...everyone in my neighborhood lived O.T.G. when I was born in 1944. In 1950 we finally got electricity, some near to town got it earlier.
How many already do?...not now, but did.
If you do live O.T.G., what do you use for lighting and heating your house?...we used kerosene lamps and wood/coal furnace.
Do you use a generator to run appliances?... No generator but we have modern appliances now :D.

I don't want to live off of the grid unless it becomes necessary.
I am planning on building a house out here on my property. I am planning on including features that would make living easier if something happened to the grid, whether for short or long term.
My dad basically lived OTG until he was about 12 or 13. His family was very poor, and in a very rural area. It was pretty much a self sustained farm.
He has a couple friends that still live OTG. I don't know thier reasons for it, but it doesnt seem to bother them that much.

I want to live off the grid, hate cities and people :D moving to Northern Montana or Minn. in a few years haven't decided which one yet but have started getting my shi* in order... as far away from people as I can get. No power except by fireplace and lantern. Wife can come or not her choice.

Like I said in another thread, you try to leave Michele or make her leave the suburbs and she'll cut real bad like. :D Bro, she ain't on you leaving so thank the Creator she lets you run off to the woods as much as she does. Not a bad dream though.

It's away of life. I've lived in the Alaska bush for over 20 yrs. If you look at the clearing in my avatar you can see my home. I live an hour flight in a 206 from Anchorage. I have one neighbor and some vacation cabins on a lake about a mile from where I live.
