I was watching the discovery channel last night, a show about the galapagos and it seemed like a really awesome place! however it also seemed that there was no people there except the guys filming the show. do you think a person could survive there for an extended period of time (2 months) just on the land, as in not bringing anything other than what you can fit in a backpack??

they used to be used as a place for exhiles and there are still some people who live on them. one could survive there... but like smok said it would be illegal. theres various ways of getting drinkable water from the see... but you dont get much

I don't know but I do know that all animals there on the islands are VERY endangered and to eat just one , to me would be a great shame . I have been a trapper for over 30 years so I'm not someone how is agents eating meat or killing to eat , it's just that there is meat and then there is somethings that should be keep safe from all

HOw illegal? that's like the how pregnant question, there is and there is not. As much as I disagree with lots and lots of laws, protecting the Galapagos species...yeah, I'm in.

im not trying to piss everyone off here i dont plan on going and killing hundreds or even one turtle or lizard... im just asking questions

again i dont plan on going but who asked why am i going i will say if i had the means to get there and wasnt forced to kill severely endangered animals why would you not want to go there it looks awesome!!!

again sorry if im upsetting anyone, and again i dont plan on doing this...

Actually the Galapagos Island have a very restricted even for conservationist and researchers, if I am not mistaken they are administered, patroled by the Peruvian goverment and severe penalties could be levied just by landing without permission or just cause.

then again, theres also twenty some odd islands if i remember correctly... so each answer to these questions could be variable.

i get where you are coming from porter, but i think youd be picked up fairly quickly if you just made a signal fire.

well again im not planning on going... however i wasnt really thinking of legalities i was more curious if you could survive there, now if you didnt kill a turtle or anything is there fruit and plants and stuff you could eat??? im not very into the whole survival thing and am just curios if a person could live on a small island like that for an extended period of time. now i figure at a place like the galapagos you could just kill a turtle and that would last you awhile i mean dont they weight like 500lbs? but if it was another island that wasnt the only island in the world with huge turtles... would it then be possible to live on an island for an extended period of time such as like 2 months?
