The most abundant species of the Bergamots. A large, coarse mint with showy flowerheads, opposite leaves, and square stems. Crushed leaves aromatic and minty. Pinkish or pale lavender, with bracts commonly tinged with lilac. 2-3 ft. (60-90 cm). Found in dry edges, thickets, clearings, Flowers July-September. Steep the fresh or dried leaves and flowerheads in hot water for about 10 minutes and sweeten to taste. Excellent mixed with other teas.
