When trying to identify this plant, pay attention to the veins in the leaves. The edible arrowroot plant will have parallel venation in each of the 3 lobes. A similar looking, but not-edible, plant is arum which has pinnate veins in the 3 lobes. I have seen arum and arrowroot growing within 2 feet of each other so be sure to look for this very clear distinguishing feature. You may also know the edible plant by the name wapato.
