Eyebright is a small to tiny plant that you find in moist sunny meadows. In europe, it has been used since the Middle Ages as an eye medicine. The anti-inflammtory and astringent properties of the plant make it helpful as an eyewash for conjunctivitis, itchy and sore eyes, and eyestrain. To prepare an eyewash, use the fresh herb since it loses much of its power when dried. Take 1 tsp herb to 2 cups of boiling water and strain. Wash out eye when strained liquid is a comfy temperature. A great plant to know - who hasn't had a branch whack into their eyes when out hiking?
