    yellow flowers single occuring on upper leaves: 5 petals, uneven stamens, darkened anthers. Leaves usually in 3 pairs. fruit is a beanlike pod, sickle-shaped, with hard shell. often crowding plant considered invasive. young shoots can be boiled or steamed
